Camp Directors - Summer 2018

You love kids.  You love to see kids having a blast.  You love to see kids having a blast while tackling a problem by coming up with a crazy imaginative solution.

If you want to spend your summer making fun, creative problem solving, and confidence a reality for campers and staff alike, then we want you to be a Camp Director with us this summer!

Time Commitment

Pre-Camp:

  • Approximately 5 hours of work per week in the Spring including special training and tasks to help prepare for camp

Training:

  • 3-5 hours of self-study prior to on-site training days
  • Two weekend day leadership team trainings in May
  • Team dinner Fri June 1st
  • 3 days of on-site training and set-up: Sat June 2nd and Sun June 3rd (Set-up days vary by location)

Camp:

  • Four-six weeks from June 11th-July 27th. (No camp on July 4th.)
  • Hours: 8.00am to 6.00pm daily OR 8.00am to 4.00pm

Post-Camp:

  • One day of post-camp reflection and celebration: Monday, July 30th

Every day you will...

  • Be an enthusiastic role model with an unstoppable “i-can” spirit.  You really get the idea that respect and affection from the team are the true marks of an excellent leader, and have examples in your experience to prove it.
  • Think ‘epic’, over ‘functional.’  What each child and parent takes away every week, is their experience. We want to make them truly epic, and you are the person to help deliver it.
  • Communicate like a champ.  Parents, children, counselors, administrators, interns. You get it. That’s a lot of different kinds of people you will work with. Excellent communication is not just necessary, it’s critical.
  • Be a rock of quiet confidence.  Even the best planner has catastrophic days. You are comfortable helping resolve a conflict one minute and dealing with a logistical challenge the next. You understand that being organized goes beyond plans and calendars; it means being hands on and adaptive.

Minimum Requirements

  • Have at least 3 years hands-on experience working with kids.
  • Have leadership and coaching experience.
  • Are available full time for 4-6 weeks in the summer.
  • Are available for flexible, part-time involvement during the school year
