Ordering Materials

Order materials here

Note: The quantities in the Amazon list reflect what you will need for one classroom of 20-24 kids. Please adjust the quantities if ordering for more than one classroom.

Remember to ask parents for donations of cardboard, cereal boxes and paper towel rolls. All other materials can be ordered from the list above.

Materials Best Practices

  • You do not need to give each child their own set of materials. Just lay out all the materials and let children select what they would like to use — the video will tell them how many they can use.
  • Spread materials throughout the classroom to avoid crowding.

STEM Objectives:

At the end of this module, students will be able to:

Incorporate advanced knowledge of simple machines into their creations including:

  1. Improving wheel efficiency through understanding of friction, traction and overall system interactions
  2. Increasing mechanical advantage in pulley systems
  3. Transferring rotational motion through gear tooth interaction and gear ratios
  4. Designing and building a multi-part machine

SEL Objectives

At the end of this module, students will be able to:

Use collaboration skills to work productively in a team including:

  • Perspective: Try to see the other person’s point of view
  • i-Power: Ask “What can I do to solve the problem?”
  • Break the Circle: Choose not to be mean back.

All-win: Find a creative solution that works for all
