COVID-19 Safety Protocol

Dear Imagineerz Family,

Safety is a top priority for us at Camp Imagineerz. We recognize that the situation is changing very rapidly, so we are closely monitoring CDC and State/local health department guidelines to ensure the health and well-being of our campers and staff. Based on their recommendations, if any of the below protocol merits any changes, we will do so and communicate accordingly.We plan to operate under these guidelines this summer.

Physical Distancing

We will ensure adequate social distancing by doing the following:

 

Reduce # of children per room by half: Each classroom will have a consistent cohort of only 10-12 campers with the same staff daily (two staff members assigned to each room). Siblings will be in the same room.

Keep each classroom independent: Campers within each room will not interact with children from other classrooms at any time, including check in, meals, and outdoor play times. Within each classroom, we will group campers into pods of 3-5 children that will function as a family, so children can connect and play with other children. 

No extended care:  We will not offer extended care this year to avoid mingling of staff and children from different rooms.

No use of common play structures: Imagineerz staff and leadership will make sure that children enrolled in our camp will not use common play structures. 

No large gatherings: This year, we will not run any all-camp gatherings/games. We will also cancel our Friday afternoon parent socials.

Program Modifications

To ensure maximum safety, we will modify our program as follows:

 

Contactless sign-in and sign-out: Parents will remain in their cars for check-in and check-out. Staff members will walk each child to and from their parent’s car. We will encourage parents to ensure that only one identified adult (a parent or guardian) is in charge of dropping and picking up their child(ren) every day.

Minimum number of people on Campus: We will not allow any visitors at camp. We will also cancel our Jr. LIT program for this year.

Mask requirements:  Staff and volunteers will be required to wear masks when they are within 6 feet of any other staff member, volunteer, or camper. Any camper above the age of 7 will be required to wear masks at camp. As per the Santa Clara County Health Department guidelines, any camper above the age of 7 will be required to wear masks at camp (unless it is medically unsafe, or the child is eating/drinking or engaged in outdoor physical activity). 

Lunch/Snack Time Procedure: Each classroom will have lunch and snack at a designated area where they will be distanced from the other classroom.  Our no-food sharing policy will be enforced during lunch/snack time.

Inside/Outside Time: We will make efforts to utilize outdoor space as much as possible for our activities. As usual, counselors will be trained to use shaded areas, have campers regularly apply sunscreen, and encourage children to constantly hydrate themselves. Children will apply their own sunscreen and sunscreen sharing will not be permitted.

Cleaning and Disinfection

We will follow deeper cleaning and disinfection procedures as follows:

 

Hand Hygiene: Children will be required to wash or sanitize their hands as soon as they come to camp as well as before every meal/snack and after every restroom visit.

Facility Cleaning: We will clean and disinfect our rooms at the end of every day. Frequently touched areas including door knobs, shared supplies, and high-touch surfaces will be disinfected at least twice a day. Staff will be trained on proper cleaning/ disinfection procedures and a schedule will be in place with clear accountabilities assigned to specific staff.

Use of Gloves: Counselors will wear gloves when helping children with any personal belongings.

Screening and Contingency Plan

Pre-Screening:

We will require daily temperature checks for staff and campers and follow any other ACA/local health department guidelines at the time of camp with respect to Screening requirements. If temperature is recorded to be above 100 degrees Fahrenheit, the staff member, volunteer, or camper will be immediately sent home and unable to join for the duration of camp.

A screening questionnaire will be sent to parents before the start of camp to ensure that no household members are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms or have had exposure to COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to camp. Parents will be required to confirm this before their child may join camp.

Ongoing Screening:

There will be a strict “stay-at-home-if-sick” policy in place for all staff and campers. Staff, as well as, children will have their temperature recorded everyday. Parents/guardians are encouraged to keep their child home and report to camp leadership in case of any sickness. 

 

If COVID-19 is suspected:

If a child shows symptoms of COVID-19, parents will immediately be contacted and a staff member with appropriate PPE gear will help isolate the child and stay with them until parents arrive. If individual tests positive, parents/guardians of other children in the classroom will be informed. We will get guidance from local health authorities and proceed as advised, closing camp if COVID-19 is suspected.
