What You'll Do

  • Serve as an enthusiastic role model, embodying the unstoppable i-Can! spirit.
  • Demonstrate respect and affection as the true marks of an excellent leader, backed by substantial experience.
  • Focus on creating epic experiences for each child and parent, transcending mere functionality.
  • Excel in communication across all levels including parents, children, counselors, administrators, and interns, recognizing the critical nature of this skill in diverse interactions.
  • Maintain a demeanor of quiet confidence, adept at navigating the unexpected, from resolving conflicts to handling logistical challenges.

Requirements for Camp Directors

  • Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience working with children.
  • Proven leadership or coaching experience.
  • Full-time availability for 4-6 weeks during the summer and flexible, part-time availability during the school year.

Logistics for Camp Directors

Pre-Training: Approximately 5 hours per week in spring to prepare for camp.

Training:

  • Self-study and leadership training, including 2-3 hours of self-study and two Saturdays of leadership training in May.
  • Team dinner at the end of May.
  • Counselor training during the first weekend of June.

Camp Duration: 4-6 weeks between the second week of June and the first week of August, excluding the week of July 4th. Daily hours are either 8:00 am to 6:00 pm or 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday-Friday.

Post-Camp: Reflection and celebration activities in August.
