Still want to learn more about Module 3?

In Module 3, the Imagineerz-in-training tackle the exhilarating challenge of preparing for future missions to Mars, turning the distant dream of space exploration into an interactive learning adventure. Through engaging activities like building orbital vehicles and designing Martian exosuits, students employ design thinking and the Imagineerz i-Can! problem-solving technique to bring the journey to the “red planet” within reach. This module isn’t just about thinking outside the box; it’s about redefining the box to include the vast expanse of space, encouraging students to bring their creative and critical thinking skills to the forefront of interplanetary exploration.

On the social-emotional learning front, this module ventures into the intricacies of the human brain, empowering students to make informed decisions and better handle emotions by understanding the roles and interactions between the amygdala and the pre-frontal cortex. Through strategies such as Inhale-Calm Down-Adapt-Now Try (ICAN) and Amygdala Calming Actions (ACA) and Amygdala Calming Thoughts (ACT), students learn to navigate and reset after setbacks, equipping them with the resilience needed for both the challenges of space and life on Earth. Simultaneously, the STEM objectives will assist NASA in pioneering the maiden journey to Mars, with a focus on physics concepts like thrust and gravity for orbital entry, air resistance and drag for safe landings, and hermetic seals to ensure astronauts’ survival in extreme conditions. This module not only brings Mars closer to home but also prepares Imagineerz-in-training for the vast adventures of tomorrow, wherever they boldly go.
