Promoting Growth Mindset and Resilience
with Design Thinking Challenges

From "Can I?" to "I Can!"

Have you heard your children say:

      • I can’t do this.
      • This is too hard.
      • I’m afraid to try.

Building positive mindsets takes time and consistency. You are your child’s most important role model and can make a huge impact. We want to pass on the tools and strategies we’ve developed to help you at home.

Our Program

Promoting Social-Emotional Learning with Design Thinking Challenges

Running design thinking challenges at home engages hands-on learners, boosts creativity and resilience, and allows students to experience and overcome failure in a supportive environment. In this hands-on one hour workshop, we map the design thinking process onto a fun lesson structure that parents can use again and again to develop their own design thinking challenges to enrich their home environment.

This free one-hour workshop is intended for an audience of K-5 parents and facilitated by our founder, Vaibhavi Gala, M.Ed. Stanford University. This workshop can also be expanded to two hours in order to present ideas for embedding growth mindset language in your family structures and routines.

Agenda:

  • Learning Targets and Introductions ~ 5 minutes
  • Participating in a K-5 Design Thinking Challenge ~ 15 minutes
  • Designing Challenges to Promote Resilience and Growth Mindset ~ 20 minutes
  • Sketching a Design Thinking Challenge ~ 15 minutes
  • Q & A ~ 5 minutes
