Promoting Growth Mindset and Resilience
with Design Thinking Challenges

From "Can I?" to "I Can!"

Have you heard your students say:

      • I can’t do this.
      • This is too hard.
      • I’m afraid to try.

Building positive mindsets takes time and consistency. You are your one of your students’ most important role models and can make a huge impact. We want to pass on the tools and strategies we have developed to help you in the classroom.

Our Program

Promoting Social-Emotional Learning with Design Thinking Challenges

Running design thinking challenges in your classroom engages hands-on learners, boosts creativity and resilience, and allows students to experience and overcome failure in a supportive environment. In this hands-on one hour workshop, we map the design thinking process onto a fun lesson structure that teachers can use again and again to develop their own design thinking challenges to run in their classrooms.

This free one-hour workshop is intended for an audience of K-5 teachers and administrators and facilitated by our founder, Vaibhavi Gala, M.Ed. Stanford University. This workshop can also be expanded to two hours in order to present ideas for embedding growth mindset language throughout the school day.

Agenda:

  • Learning Targets and Introductions ~ 5 minutes
  • Participating in a K-5 Design Thinking Challenge ~ 15 minutes
  • Designing Challenges to Promote Resilience and Growth Mindset ~ 20 minutes
  • Sketching a Design Thinking Challenge ~ 15 minutes
  • Q & A ~ 5 minutes
